The difference between "meh" and "WOW"

So 2 new games came out recently.  Battlefield 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.  I have played COD from the beginning.   All the expansions.  I loved the game.  Met a great bunch of friends and a clan in Modern Warfare, the best multiplayer COD game out their.  Never played any of the earlier BF games.

And now, I am loving BF3.  Intricate gameplay, vehicles, teamwork required to succeed.  Good size maps.  Great graphics.  Initial impression "WOW".

So I jumped into MW3 for a few minutes.   And after fighting trying to get through the horrible console driven interface which really annoyed me as a PC player, my inital impression was "meh".  Small maps, small numbers of players.  I know cod is driven to the fast and furious style of play, but the developers push to console-style the game has driven it to far for the PC player.  We, the PC gamers made infinity ward and cod what it is today.  But the console market stole our game and made it theirs.  The keep making these games for the console and port them to the pc.  Graphic engine for MW3 is the same s MW 4+ years ago, with some tweaks.  No destructible environment.  No ranked dedicated servers, which is the whole point of PC game version!  I think I will be done with the COD series after this.  Maybe Respawn studios (the original infinity ward COD developers who left during MW2 development will make a good game.

The difference between meh and WOW. Can be huge for a pc gamer.  For me some of the WOW games where I was hooked in minutes are Dark Age of Camelot, World of Warcraft.  But so many games only achieve meh these days.  And the industry trend towards console games is horrible.  But console's have plataued, while pc's are still rising.

May their be hope in the future.   I will see what Star Wars: The Old Republic rates around christmas.
